How AI Phone Case Design Works at RPX customs

Updated 21 September 2026. AI phone case design lets you turn a written idea or a portrait into artwork for your phone. At RPX customs, AI is optional: you can also print your own suitable photo without an AI transformation or choose a finished design.

This guide explains the current tools, access options and checks before ordering a custom phone case. Start with the exact device: choose from iPhone cases or Samsung Galaxy cases. A model-specific link carries that choice into the customizer. Use the live selector to check availability rather than choosing a similar phone name.

Prompt Engine: describe your phone case design

Prompt Engine creates artwork from text. Describe the main subject, colours, lighting and composition. For example: “an original futuristic racing scene, cyan lights on a dark background, vertical composition, clear space around the edges”. You do not need to upload a portrait for this route.

A useful prompt is specific about the image, not just the mood. If you want a car-inspired case, describe a scene using original design elements. For a gaming or cyber theme, try an abstract circuit pattern or an imagined neon arcade. Avoid protected characters, logos and other material you do not have permission to use.

The interface currently estimates prompt generation at around 5–10 seconds, but this is not a deadline. Review the result, especially lettering, faces and small details. AI output can vary; a generated image is not automatically an accurate or exclusive design.

Portrait Engine: turn a photo into styled artwork

Portrait Engine is intended for human portraits. Choose a clear, well-lit photo with a visible face. The current portrait picker accepts JPG, PNG or HEIC files up to 15 MB. A pet, product or landscape photo is better suited to ordinary upload when you want to preserve the original image.

You can select one of five styles, or let “Choose for me” select one:

  • Cover Star: cinematic poster.
  • Miami Heat: sunset neon.
  • Yacht Club: coastal luxury.
  • Replicant: futuristic city.
  • Sin City: black-and-white noir.

The portrait interface estimates 1–2 minutes, sometimes longer. AI can change facial details, clothing or the background. Inspect the artwork before using it; a transformation does not guarantee an exact likeness.

Free allowances and PIXELBACK

Check the counters in your current session for the free designs available to you. Remaining access is checked by the service; an old blog or screenshot should not be used as proof of an allowance.

For more designs, PIXELBACK currently costs €2.95 as a one-time payment, with no subscription. It includes 5 more Portrait Engine designs and 10 more Prompt Engine designs, valid for 30 days. One €2.95 credit can be applied to an eligible phone-case order and cannot be combined with another product or order discount.

Access normally activates in the browser after purchase; an emailed code provides backup access. Check the current product page for the offer and unused-generation refund details before paying.

Upload your own photo without AI

Use ordinary photo upload if you already have the picture you want printed. Start with the original image rather than a compressed screenshot. File selection and positioning take place in your browser; the standard flow sends the image to storage when you add the design to your cart after accepting the upload terms.

The optional AI print-remaster feature is a separate choice, not a necessary part of direct photo printing. Its processing terms differ. If you prefer ready-made artwork, browse RPX customs Originals.

From artwork to your case

  1. Confirm your exact phone model.
  2. Choose a design route and create or upload the image.
  3. Check the preview: keep faces and important details away from the camera opening and outside edges.
  4. Choose your case offer, accept the applicable photo terms and review the cart.

RPX customs UV-prints and finishes cases in Germany. The preview helps you judge placement but is not an exact colour proof. Do not assume AI automatically corrects every crop or printing issue. See the step-by-step design guide and case materials guide.

What happens to your photo?

Standard uploads and AI requests have different processing paths. Temporary image storage uses AWS in Frankfurt. AI requests are processed by an external AI provider through Cloudflare, and processing may occur outside Europe. Provider safety logs are separate from RPX customs storage; there is no single deletion deadline covering all systems.

Read the Photo Upload Terms, AI Photo Processing Terms and photo privacy guide. You retain your rights to your uploaded photo; only use content you have permission to reproduce.

Ready to create?

Choose your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, then build a design around its actual shape. Your final check matters more than how quickly the image was generated.
